Sgàthan begins with a word. It might be a name, a memory, or something that carries personal meaning.
That word is mirrored back on itself, creating a form that is both familiar and transformed. What begins as language becomes something physical, shaped into a balanced and wearable piece.
Sgàthan comes from the Scottish Gaelic word for mirror, a reflection of something seen and something understood.
Each piece is created from the word chosen by the wearer. From that starting point, I develop a design, shaping it into a form that feels both natural and considered.
Once the design is ready, I’ll share it with you along with options for materials, stones and finish. From there, we refine the piece together before it is made to order.
No design experience is needed. I’ll guide you through the process.

Each piece is cast in gold, yellow, white or rose, hallmarked, and finished by hand in Scotland.
Care is taken at every stage to ensure the form remains clean, legible and balanced, preserving the integrity of the original word while shaping it into something wearable.
As each piece begins with a different word, and you can choose the type of gold and the type of stone, no two are ever exactly the same.
